As we all know, Forecastle has become a premier festival in the country with more people, huge bands, and, unfortunate to some, a higher ticket price. In 2013, that pain was alleviated a bit with the advent of Poorcastle. It was made to be the local, cheaper option. 2013's edition was a one day festival and in 2014, Poorcastle expanded to two days. So you guessed it, this year's Poorcastle will be three-day bash with an incredible 33 bands, all of which are local.

Oh, and as the cheap option I'm sure you are wondering the price. Admission to each day of this festival is just $5. Yup, only $5.

This year's Poorcastle takes place at Apocalypse Brew Works on July 10-12 (one week before Forecastle) and yesterday Poorcastle announced its lineup. One interesting note in this lineup is that Twin Limb, who recently went on tour to open for Houndmouth, is playing both Poorcastle and Forecastle.

Friday, July 10: Monolith, D.T.B.P., Plastic Bubble, Violet Knives, The Uncommon Houseflies, Hal Dolls, Blue Soul Gypsies, In Lightning, Echopathy, Owoso, Freddie Was A Boxer

Saturday, July 11: Howell Dawdy, Dream Eye Color Wheel, Tall Squares, Phourist & The Photons, Ted Tyro, Brent Mathis, Cliffs, Jack holiday & The Westerners, Typhoid Beach, Stuart Wicke, Frederick The Younger

Sunday, July 12: Twin Limb, Black Birds of Paradise, Cher Von, New Bravado, Twenty First Century Fox, Tender Mercy, The Hart Strings, Solenodon, Kaleidico, By The Bushel, Bookshelf

Proceeds from Poorcastle go to Crescent Hill Radio, a non-profit Louisville radio station that plays local music all the time.
