A new publication called "The Guide to Historic Frankfort Avenue" has recently been published. It lists restaurants, shops and galleries in and around Crescent Hill and includes a letter from resident/Louisville mayor Jerry Abramson about why he loves the neighborhood. The fact that it's walkable is something we both enjoy. The guide is a great way to familiarize yourself with Frankfort Avenue, and the pull-out map highlighting the stops during the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop — which happens the last Friday of every month — seems particularly useful. Pick one up at several area businesses.
A few other observations stood out:
1. In the dining and entertainment section, the listing for Porcini (2730 Frankfort Ave.) includes information about "private parties" but nothing about U of L hoops coach Rick Pitino's special, after-hours "private parties."
2. Keeping with the Italian theme, here's what the listing for Clifton's Pizza (2716 1/2) says: "Since 1990. One of the oldest restaurants on the street." Glad to see a place doing strong after two decades. Note: the deliciousness of the pizza is proportional to how late you eat it.
3. Just me or is it odd that the Kentucky School for the Blind (1867 Frankfort Ave.) is listed under "neighborhood attractions"?
