Wednesday Night: 7:00- A crowded house of wrestling fan await the opening bout at the Davis Arena in South Louisville.
On the card tonight is a number of matches that have extra heat on them due to a number of titles changing hands during the previous Saturday’s event.
All in all though, it’s another TV Taping of Ohio Valley Wrestling. Born and bred in the Derby City, the OVW has signed a new contract. WWE Hall of Famer and Louisville native, Jim Cornette previously had worked out a farm league system with World Wrestling Entertainment. In which wrestlers signed by the sports entertainment juggernaut would first go through Louisville to perfect their skills prior to being called up to “the big leagues” so to speak.
Well, that contract ended but recently the OVW signed a deal with WWE’s current biggest rival Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling or TNA, which has them acting as the farm league for the up and coming Florida based outfit.
Essentially, this means that OVW is currently on an up swing, and in addition to the matches on Wednesday an area film was shot during intermission.
Area film is seen here being filmed live at OVW's Wednesday night TV Taping
Despite not being able to get a ton of information about the new flick it seems a working title is RPS, standing for Rock, Paper, Scissors. It appeared to be a comedy where the childhood game is taken very seriously and in fact occurs in a wrestling ring to shouting fans. The film actually shot in several locations around the arena most notably inside the ring.
It’s difficult to say where OVW’s current roster will be in say a year, however things are definitely happening in the house that body slams built.
