Currently, Louisville’s independent pro-wrestling promotion, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) has inked a deal with Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (TNA); which essentially makes OVW a farm promotion of sorts for the already established TNA.
This comes after OVW acted in the same role for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) prior to that deal concluding.
As such, it should come as little surprise that TNA is making their way to the Derby City, putting on a clinic of sorts for OVW on Thursday, July 18th when the promotion tapes a live international episode of their show, TNA Impact which airs weekly on Spike TV.
In addition  to being live the show is a “special” titled “Destination X,” this is in reference to the promotions X-Division, which features a cast of wrestlers who all focus on acrobatic and high flying maneuvers; what this means for the local audience is that they will be seeing some explosive pro-wrestling from some of the business’ current top talent.
The body slams will be coming from the Broadbent arena, where doors will open at 6 and the show will pile drive its way on air at 7.
The main event of the night will feature world champion Bully Ray defending his title against Division X champ Chris Sabin.
In a company note, TNA has been gaining momentum in pro-wrestling fan bases around the world. The promotion in reality has been steadily creating a rival which has continued to grow for World Wrestling Entertainment.
As such the company has a number of fighters in their roster who have already created legacies of their own, including and beginning with Hulk Hogan, who became a household name in the 1980’s with World Wrestling Entertainment, probably the biggest name in the sport of all time, Hogan works on air as well as off air for TNA.
Other notables in that vein include Chavo Guerrero (a former star in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the WWE), Devon (star of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and WWE), Jeff Hardy (formerly of the WWE), Kurt Angle (former World Champion of the WWE), Mickie James (formerly of the WWE), Rampage Jackson (who has fought in all sorts of styles all over the world famously), Taz (a legend of both the ECW and WWE), and Sting (a true pro-wrestling hall of famer who has laced up for the NWA as well as the WCW).
It’s difficult to say who will be in attendance July 18th, but there’s plenty of reason to believe it will be an impressive showcase.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
