For thirteen years, African Student Union has made an effort to unite the campus and Louisville community through cultural awareness and artistic expression. African Night, an annual event at the University of Louisville, is celebrating its eleventh year.

African Student Union recognizes the University of Louisville's emphasis on its commitment to diversity in their mission statement. African Student Union has used this unwavering stance to strengthen campus community relations. African Night is a way to show how we, as a student organization, are dedicated to uniting the campus and Louisville community to celebrate cultural awareness.

This year, our theme will be One Love, One People, Mama Africa. With this, we will enhance campus life by showing the importance of diversity and unity of all people in a microcosmic celebration, and that despite the differences in skin color, religions, and language, we can all come together through music, art, dance, laughter, and education.

This event will engage the student body by showcasing many African performances (music, tradition/modern dance, spoken word, etc.) to educate and inspire. African Night is an annual event that continues to further our purpose as a cultural organization by making it our mission to unite all people of the Diaspora and people of all colors: to celebrate the diversity of the continent and to remember the importance of diversity in our own lives.
