Pictures: Runway & Rescue event! @ The Henry Clay

Christian Siriano ("Project Runway" winner and fashion designer) was on hand to meet guests and dish about his latest designs, many of which were modeled on the runway later in the evening. I met him earlier in the day when I attended his Trunk Show to salivate over his beautiful designs. He was kind and genuine, and even offered to create a custom-fitted gown for at least one patron.

Guests arrived for cocktail hour at the Henry Clay and were led into the South Room to mingle with friends, enjoy a specialty drink named "Rescue Me" after the evening's theme, and peruse the Silent Auction items. I found myself gravitating to the Glasscock and CF Elegance boutique areas - any excuse to shop.

Just before 8 p.m. the guests filtered into the softly lit pink and purple Grand Ballroom for dinner. The impeccably decorated tables were covered in crisp white linens and fuchsia orchid centerpieces. The 60 foot runway commanded the attention of the room – especially when the ever-charming Carson Kressley warmed the crowd with his humor and assisted with the Silent Auction.

The Runway show included spring designs from Glasscock as well as Siriano’s Spring/Summer 2011 line. It showcased everything from sportswear to evening wear with innovative patterns like an Asian temple-inspired graphic in paprika-red and a turquoise leopard print. Jaws dropped as the models marched down the runway in progressively more red-carpet worthy designs, the coup de gras being the FIERCE red gown piled high with layer upon layer of sumptuous tulle.

Overall, the evening was high-spirited and for a great cause. Louisville’s most fashionable and animal-loving crowd couldn’t have been more generous. Todd Calvert of In C’Inc Marketing and Phillipa Sledge, co-chair of The Shelby County Humane Society put on an incredible event.

Many thanks go to the sponsors for this event: Stonecroft Farm, Pidgeon Roost Farm, Monnington Farm, Golden Creek Farm and Willowbank Farm. Shelby County business sponsors include: The Shelbyville Horse Show, Richfield Video Productions, Citizens Union Bank, O'Brien Ford of Shelbyville and The Shelby Horse Supply. CF Elegance of Lexington provided all of the canine accessories -including the blinged out leashes seen on the runway.
