Pandora Productions presents a tale of love, identity, and an Oscar Wilde play in A Man of No Importance, which opens tomorrow.
A Man of No Importance productions will take place on Sept. 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. each night. A matinee show will also go on Sept. 17 at 2:30 p.m. All performances will go on at the Victor Jory Theatre in Actors Theatre, located at 316 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for each show are $18 in advance and $20 day of show. All tickets can be purchased at the Pandora Productions website or at the door. Day of show tickets can also be purchased by calling Jason at 502-216-5502. Keep in mind that all sales are final.
A Man of No Importance features a simple man with in 1964 Dublin. who asks his church to perform a more provacative Wilde play instead of their traditional one. Church leaders, however, are unnerved by the amount of supposed immodest dancing in it. It's a story that involves love, friendship, and identity.
Stephen Flaherty created the music for A Man of No Importance, Lynn Ahrens created the lyrics, and Terrence McNally created the book for the production, which earned a 2003 Best Musical award from the Outer Critics Circle.
For Pandora Productions, the cast includes artistic director Michael J. Drury, Jason Brent Button, Laura Ellis, Rusty Henle, Michael Mayes, Obadiah Ewing-Roush, Josh Richard, Bob Zielinski, Tiffany Taylor, Kristy Calman, Betty Zielinski, Chris Cook, Meg Caudill, Patrick Brophy, Daniel Cooper, Anthony Ransom, Amos Dreisbach, and Blair Boyd.
