There's
no reason to be disappointed if you failed to receive invitations to
one of many cookouts going on in Louisville for Labor Day. Not
everything is closed. I'm hosting a Labor Day smorgasbord of original
art and entertainment known as Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard where
there is never a cover charge, and you’re invited. You can save your
money for your beverages.
Your entry fee of zero dollars gets you a tasty main musical dish of
one local band known as Stoic Static, while Erica Lawson will be
serving up a steamy side of erotic poetry. In addition to our featured
entertainment, there is always a buffet of talented open mic
performances whose talents span comedy, poetry, music and more.
This
is all going down at Zazoo's Bar and Grill, which is located at 102
Bauer Ave in St. Matthews near the corner of Frankfort Avenue. Stop by
and see why Zazoo’s is such a popular place to be on Monday nights.
If you're not familiar with Zazoo's Bar and Grill, you'll quickly see
why it's a great place in Louisville to spend Labor Day. The shotgun
layout of the bar makes it great for keeping the focus pointed towards
the entertainment, which is on a medium sized stage in the front of the
bar. The well lit stage with speakers on either side ensures the
audience is able to see and hear the entertainment unlike some venues
where people have to strain. Zazoo’s offers an array of food and drinks,
and has a small patio out front for smokers or those more interested in
enjoying the fall weather.
Zazoo’s also has an upstairs with a separate
bar for those interested in hosting private events. Mondays are always
interesting at Zazoo’s and are frequented by a variety of people ranging
from professionals to artists. If you’ve never seen Sub Rosa: The
Gypsie Courtyard, Labor Day is the perfect time to give it a try. It is
the wildest variety show in town.
