Almost a year ago Louisville musician and journalist, Hunter Embry, launched a new original live music showcase series called The New Vintage. Regularly occurring on Saturday nights at Zazoo’s in Saint Matthews, Embry has built the showcase into a local hangout spot for Louisville’s original music enthusiast by welcoming virtually every style of musician and band willing to claim the stage.
On New Years Eve, Embry will host one of Louisville’s most iconic Rock ‘n’ Roll bands, The Broken Spurs, along with his own band, The Bad Reeds, in what’s sure to be good clean fun, right? Right. Embry’s also invited several yet-to-be-announced guest DJ’s to the show, who will be “playing old-school dance music throughout the night,” which very well could just equate to someone pressing play on an iPod. Who knows.
The Broken Spurs, coming off a busy and momentous 2011 which included the release of their debut album Natural Disaster on Louisville’s SonaBlast! records, will claim the stage once again and wrap up The New Vintage’s 2011 series. This will be the Spurs first live performance since they last played at Gonzofest in October.
"I know it'll be a really great time with a lot of awesome people. The music is going to be great and it's only 10$! If people wanna spend NYE in the company of serious partiers, this is it," The Broken Spurs' lead vocalist Adam Kramer commented about the show.
Embry’s band, The Bad Reeds, a somewhat bluesy and 70‘s style of rock ‘n’ roll will also perform. Embry, who also fronts the band as the lead vocalist, has asked everyone to “dress to impress” for the night. And if you do, he’ll throw in a Champagne toast at no extra charge.
