When I went to babysit two pre-teen boys for the first time, I didn’t know if we’d have anything in common. They were at that awkward age where they couldn’t stay home by themselves, but they were too old and too cool for a babysitter. As luck would have it, we found out we shared a love of the television show, Mythbusters. “We’ve never met a girl who likes Mythbusters!“ they exclaimed. So, we spent that cold, rainy afternoon watching a marathon of episodes.
For over ten years, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage have been disproving common urban legends on the Discovery Channel. In their show, they’ve taken on everything from “does running in the rain keep you from getting wet?” to “can a water heater explode and rocket through the ceiling of your house?” with loads of colossal explosions in between. Next week, the mythbusters themselves will bring their “Behind the Myths Tour” to the Kentucky Center. On-stage experiments, audience participation, and comedy will surely make this show a hit for the entire family, no matter how old or “cool.” The mythbusters will take the stage on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:30pm. Just in time for Thanksgiving break! Tickets start at just $38. For more information, click here.
And, remember, “The only difference between screwing around and science is writing it down.”
