    Bit to Do

    Moonface

Canadian indie rocker Spencer Krug created the Moonface moniker as one of his many musical projects. Next Friday night at Headliners, Moonface performs behind his latest album, Julia with Blue Jeans On, which was released last October.

Krug's former bands include Wolf Parade (2003-2010) and Sunset Rubdown (both now defunct) and a number of other side projects. As Moonface, he has released three full-length albums, all very different from one another and featuring particular instruments, including marimba, organ, and, in Julia, just the piano and his own vocals. Pitchfork had this to say about his latest effort: "Julia With Blue Jeans On...is another sharp left turn: with nothing but piano and Krug's voice, it's the starkest, most gripping Moonface record to date, and one of the finest LPs of Krug's prolific, unpredictable career."

Leaning more to the arty side of indie music, Moonface offers something a little different -- melodious, emotional, introspective -- his sound is all his own. The show starts at 9 p.m. Friday,  March 7 at Headliners (Doors @ 8pm. 18 & over). Tickets are $15, which you can buy in advance. Also on the bill are Saltland (cellist Rebecca Foon) and Tender Mercy (Louisvillian Mark Kramer).
