Best Coast is an indie-pseudo-surf-rock collective that climbed their way out of the west coast to be one of the most talked about bands in the country.
The band is centered around singer Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno – who together are the creative team and driving force that has built Best Coast from being one of the hottest underground garage bands in Los Angeles to becoming a mainstay on alt-rock stations across America.
Consentino and Bruno met kicking around the Los Angeles music scene. Consentino, who had been writing songs since she was teenager soon realized that Bruno had an inherent ability to structure her songs, and strengthen her melodies in a way no one she had ever collaborated with had managed to do before. The two writers began collaborating and formed their first project together called Pocahaunted. Pocahaunted soon found some buzz around the city, but Consentino eventually left the group to study journalism on the east coast.
After a life spend in sunny southern California, she lasted only two semesters in the cold gray of New York City before returning the Los Angeles area. The experience almost immediately inspired her to begin writing music again, so she called on old friend Bruno once again. And In 2009, Best Coast was born. The rejuvenated partnership led to the band releasing independent 7” singles and cassette tapes within weeks of forming.
By 2010, the band released their debut full-length album “Crazy For You,” and then followed it up in 2012 with “The Only Place.” Currently Best Coast is on tour in support of their latest album, “California Nights,” which was released in May.
Best Coast will be performing at Headliners Music Hall Wednesday September 16th. The show will begin at 8 PM and tickets are available for $20. Lovely Bad Things will be opening the show.
