Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail has added eight new stops, according to Courier-Journal reporter Dana McMahan. The new stops are: Bistro 301; Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant; Jockey Silks Bourbon Bar; O’Shea’s Downtown; Rye on Market; Sidebar at Whiskey Row; Sway at The Hyatt Regency Louisville; and Troll Pub Under the Bridge. Paper passports can be picked up at most stops on the Urban Bourbon Trail and the 4th Street Visitor’s Center, or you can go high-tech and use the app. Click here for more information.

In the shadow of growing tension from the Western world, Russia has banned the import of Kentucky Gentleman bourbon. Their consumer protection agency says it contains phthalates, a common component of plastic bottles. More bourbon for us.

Last week Mayor Fischer went to Bardstown to settle a dispute with their mayor over which town is the bourbon capitol of the world. The bourbon business is booming and neither Mayor Fischer nor Mayor Sheckles declared himself the winner. It is worth noting that Filson Bourbon Historian Mike Veach pointed out, amidst the chaos, that all the major distilleries in Bardstown have offices in Louisville. So while Bardstown is a beautiful place to visit distilleries that make most of the bourbon, the business of bourbon happens here in the ‘Ville.
