    Bit to Do

Bourbon Thru Bluegrass at Bourbons Bistro Coming Soon

I love Bourbons Bistro.  They really brought the concept of bourbon as a food group to Louisville.  They also know how to put on awesome events, and Bourbon thru Bluegrass is sure to be no exception.

There are no two things more quintessentially Kentuckian than bourbon and Bluegrass music.  Some would argue that we invented both.  So when you put together experts in both and add in some Southern food, you’re sure to have an amazing time.

Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m., Bourbons Bistro is hosting an event called “Bourbon thru Bluegrass.”  Hickory Vaught, a Louisville Bluegrass musician, and Bernie Lubbers, the Whiskey Professor, will present a 75 minute performance that will, “stimulate all your senses. You will see, hear, smell, feel, and taste the history of America’s native spirit. Drink it all in at Bourbons Bistro. It’s like a Ken Burns documentary on Bourbon brought to life,” according to the event site.

The program is only $30 and includes a welcome cocktail.  Bernie Lubbers is an awesome resource of the bourbon community.  He is a regular at all the major bourbon happenings around, and I recently met him while I was sitting at the bar at Bourbons Bistro sipping some JTS Brown.  His passion for our native spirit is contagious.

The intersection of bourbon and Bluegrass music is as interesting as it is intricate.  Whether one could exist without the other is doubtful.  If you are a fan of either, you won’t want to miss this event.  Even if you aren’t a fan of either, there’s nothing wrong with knowing a little bit about Kentucky’s heritage.

If you really want to do up your bourbon outing right, head down the road to Haymarket for their Master Distiller’s Night, which starts at 9.  Be sure to tweet me all the details @LouGirl502!
