Seattle-based indie rock band Minus the Bear got the evening started on the last day of Forecastle Festival on the Main Stage. I wasn't that familiar with the band before this show, but after a few technical issues were cleared up, and I finished getting pictures from the stage, I was able to sit down and listen to a few songs.

Their latest release, Omni, just came out in May – their fourth studio album. The songs I noted were all new, marked by throbbing beats from drummer Erin Tate and bassist Cory Murchy to match the sensuality of the lyrics to songs like “Hold Me Down” and “My Time.” Musically, it was very approachable, sultry rock – nothing too hard or driving in the guitars or synth riffs -- and served well by Jake Snider's smooth vocals.
