    Bit to Do

1% For the Planet is a global foundation that exists to build and support an alliance of businesses that are financially committed to creating and healthy planet. It was founded by creator Yvon Chouinard. Forecastle Festival is the first and only music festival to belong to 1% For the Planet.

There are only three members in Kentucky and one member in Louisville. A shout out to Robert DeAngelis Fly Fishing! Some famous members around the nation are Jack Johnson, Clif Bar, and New Belgium Brewing (Colorado based company that makes the beloved Fat Tire). However, there is not requirement for a member to make much money...just as long as they agree to give 1% of their profits back to the planet (check out the website for qualifications). Member donations are made directly to the environmental nonprofits of their choice. So far over $50 million has been raised to help protect, restore, and rebuild the environment.

I'd like to thank Forecastle Festival for their donation and challenge the rest of Louisville to follow suit. 1% makes a huge difference. Check out their website for more information on how to make your business a member.
