Head to the Louisville Free Public Library’s website now and you will find a plethora of information mostly starting with the letter “e”. Most everyone knows that letter stands for electronic, right? Did you know that the library has tremendously revved up its “e” offerings over the past year or so? Did you know that if you are a valid library card carrying patron of the Louisville Free Public Library, all of these new technological advances can be at your fingertips in minutes, and minus any cost to you?

I first discovered the library’s eMagazines feature a few months ago and signed up immediately through the Library’s link on the homepage. It is very simple and easy to do. Once you’re in the software Zinio for Libraries, which runs the service for library patrons, you must then complete a sign-in there too, which is also very easy. Be sure to use the exact same sign-in and password. Once I got through all the sign-in steps, which are linked here, I clicked on the newest issue of Parenting, Early Years, which is on the newsstands now and immediately began reading it, without paying a cent. You can see a complete listing of these free eMagazines available 24/7 by clicking here. You can utilize these eMagazines with many available Zinio apps, which are compatible with many mobile devices.

The newest offering by the library is ebooks for kids, a perfect pairing for the summer reading program which is happening now through August 10. Two services are offered to provide children with easy access to books on their tablets, eReader devices, or home computers. One service, TumbleBooks, is a fantastic online reading program. Many of the outstanding features with this service are interactive prompts such as animation, narration, and sound effects. This online collection houses many popular storybooks as well as educational videos, games, and puzzles. TumbleBooks is also available in Spanish. Click here to access TumbleBooks through the library’s Kids’ Page. The other service is ebooks for kids, which are available through the link, http://www.lfpl.org/eBooks.html

The library offers an assortment of ebooks and audiobooks for the listener of any age as well. Stop into any library location for help with accessing these terrific resources. The library even hosts free classes designed to teach users how to easily navigate through all of these online resources.

The Main Library is located at 301 York Street. There are 18 library locations throughout Jefferson County.
