University of Louisville’s annual “Cardinal Caravan” begins its trip today. This event is meant to generate excitement and awareness about the Cards’ football team, which is coming off an upset victory in the Sugar Bowl against Florida last season. The Caravan is set to travel around the commonwealth with a number of Cardinal notables, all hyping the upcoming football season. This comes after the official dates of the Caravan were announced just recently.
The tour beings in in Bardstown, Kentucky today at Kreso’s Restaurant at 11:45 a.m. Later on, the Cards with basketball coach, Rick Pitino and Athletic Director, Tom Jurich will keep the Caravan rolling at The River Walk at Captain’s Quarters back home in Louisville at 6:30 tonight.
The Caravan continues tomorrow for an 11:45 stop in Bowling Green at the Performing Arts Center, then they head to Lexington’s Grand Reserve at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, the Caravan concludes at Shelbyville’s Fairgrounds Pavilion at 6.
This event is set to bring a lot of excitement and media exposure, as such many at the University of Louisville have been hyping this event for some time, pretty much following the Cards men’s basketball championship, football became the main course of discussion and seemingly immediately Rick Pitino stepped off stage leaving it for football coach, Charlie Strong.
In other Cards news, the team can now add another boast, this time academically as the Cards have collectively posted solid grades at the college. In fact Will Stein and Alex Kupper have been named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, which gives recognition to players who maintain a 3.2 grade point average or better.
