Looking for Lilith puts a unique spin on 10-year anniversary production [Theater

Ten years ago, Looking for Lilith Theatre Company was founded by Shannon Woolley and Trina Fischer to examine history through women’s perspectives.

In the years that followed, the company proved that its story, unlike that of its namesake in various religious traditions, would not be lost.

Persevering through the struggles of a developing company, including a move from New York City to the founders’ hometown of Louisville, Looking for Lilith now enjoys a place of stature among local theatre groups.

In celebration of their first decade, LFL presents Looking Forward, Looking Back, a combination of two separate productions that will run in repertory at The Bard’s Town.

The first, 10 Years, 7 Stories, compiles a selection from each of the company’s seven original works, including Women Speak: IRAQ and What My Hands Have Touched, which shares the stories of women during WWII. Many of the selections feature original cast members and artists.

The second production, Becoming Mothers, is LFL’s newest work in progress, and is based on the process of women becoming mothers through different generations and various circumstances. The staged reading will also touch on the experiences of women who do not have children.

The two productions will run on alternate days and evenings, from May 31-June 10. Performances of 10 Years, 7 Stories are May 31, June 2, 7 and 9 at 7:30pm and June 10 at 2pm. Tickets are $15/$10.

Performances of the staged reading, Becoming Mothers are June 1, 8 and 10 at 7:30pm and June 3 at 2pm. Tickets are $10/$7.

Tickets may be reserved by calling (502) 638-2559. All performances will be held at The Bard's Town, 1801 Bardstown Rd. in Louisville.
