Kids, parents, and those kids at heart who love trains won’t want to miss the LaGrange Railroad Festival this Saturday, October 13. The event is sure to delight all train enthusiasts.

The LaGrange Railroad Festival will take place this weekend in LaGrange, Kentucky (Oldham County) “where the train runs right down the middle of Main Street.” Here is what is slated for all day entertainment:

    • Burgoo cookoff and tasting
    • Model train displays
    • Live steamer train rides
    • Multi-media train art exhibit
    • Hobo and Choo Choo sidewalk parade
    • Cornhole tournament
    • Live music on the courthouse lawn

The LaGrange Railroad Festival is an annual event that brings together people interested in trains. Many who attend go because they have a vested interest in the hobby. Others go because they are intrigued by the hobby and want to learn more about it. You can learn about LaGrange’s unique history and its ties to the CSX Railroad. Grab an “all aboard” shoppers punch card to win prizes. Shop the LaGrange Farmer’s market and pick up some fall farm fresh foods while you’re there. The market will run from 8am-1pm.

If your kids are into trains, point out every train they see in their world, and are constantly asking you to check out those infamous train books from the library that you’ve read 100 times over – you definitely want to make sure your family discovers this festival.

This festival falls around the time of October when there is such a variety of free fall events to choose from. Check out Louisville Family Fun’s lists, where this event and many others are highlighted.

The LaGrange Railroad Festival runs from 10am-4pm on October 13. It’s packed full of free family fun, music, and food. Hop on board and explore!
