    The malls are usually the first stop while holiday shopping, but if local shopping is more your style, visit these four local shopping hotspots to get gifts for everyone and your life, while keeping it local. 

    Bardstown Road:

    Bardstown Road has fashionable clothing boutiques and home goods stores, some of them are even both. Urban Outfitters is perfect to buy gifts for anyone from 15 to 25, the store has clothes, accessories and fun apartment items. Clay and Cotton sells clothes, bedding, stationary, candles and more. It would be impossible to walk out of Clay and Cotton without a gift for someone, the store is in its original location in the Highlands and is opening a second location in the Norton Commons in 2013.

    East Market St:

    The East Market District is growing and full of chic boutiques, specialty stores and good food, in case you want to refuel during shopping. The district was recently named as one of the reasons Louisville is the best tourist attraction for the 2013 year. Gifthorse has unique fashion forward clothes and accessories, while you can buy soaps, perfume and candles at Peace of the Earth, natural bath boutique.

    Frankfort Ave:

    Clique Waxing Boutique, Pure Tan Studio and The Tangerine Closet are a few of Frankfort Ave’s hotspots. Clique offers waxing and threading, and has a new store, Pure Tan Studio, which provides all natural spray tans. The Tangerine Closet sells fashion forward affordable clothing and accessories.

    Butchertown Market:

    Butchertown Market is home to Work the Metal and Cellar Door Chocolates. Work the Metal has a large variety of chic inexpensive jewelry and sells accessories, including GRACESHIP computer bags, which are local to Louisville. Cellar Door Chocolates is a great place to shop for the chocolate lover.

    Westport Village:

    Boutique Serendipity and Apricot Lane Boutique are located at Westport Village. Boutique Serendipity has a selection of unique clothing, jewelry and accessories. Apricot Lane sells trendy clothes by popular brands such as Miss Me Denim, Yellow Box Shoes and Level 99 Denim., AlterEgo Women’s Apparel and Les Filles Boutique are few other store located at Westport Village and much more.
