There's a new open mic in town at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Bardstown in the Highlands.  The open mic is hosted by Robert Morgan, who is also known as a local comedian and comedy event producer.

Robert  has written, directed, acted, sang, performed and booked comedy for over 20 years. The acting bug bit Robert in high school, and he continued performing with community theater.   In addition to acting, he has directed two musicals: "Anything Goes" and "Li'l Abner" at the Hayswood Theater in Corydon, IN.   He also wrote and directed a full-length feature film, Party Animal, which was filmed in Louisville.

Comedy is the genre that Robert is most publicly known for.   He has booked and performed in comedy shows  through out  Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee under the banner of  his production company, The Land of Laughter.

Robert cites his influences as Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield, and Steven Wright, Robert's own comedy  act is an absurdist romp at times through subjects few other comics touch like werewolves, vampires, and Aqua Man. Robert enjoys making others laugh but also supports his fellow artists by creating opportunities and collaborating

The open mic is a variety of music, poetry, and more. It is mostly comedians.  Robert's future projects include  developing a stage and video show consisting of sketches he and others have written.  He is also hosting a Fantastic Four of Comedy show at The Bardstown  at 8 p.m. on February 26, 2011, featuring Nathan Wallace, Patrick Passafiume, Ranaan Hershberg and himself.  The cover is $5.
