Deception and theft are all over the place in The Little Foxes, which the As Yet Unnamed Theatre Company will present beginning Friday.
The Little Foxes performances will go on May 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 8 p.m. each night. Matinees will take place May 22 and 29 at 2:30 p.m. each day. All shows will happen at the Mex Theatre in the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for each show is $16 per person. All tickets for the two-hour show can be purchased at the box office, the Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.
The Little Foxes is essentially attempts as theft and manipulation as three siblings, Ben, Oscar, and Regina, look to build a cotton mill at the turn of the century. Needing $75,000 for the job, they go to manipulate Regina's husband. After that fails, Ben and Oscar look to take $80,000 from Horace's safe without him knowing.
Gary Tipton directed The Little Foxes, which Lillian Hellman created. The cast includes Carolyn Holbrook, Jim Reid, Kathy Chaney, Rebecca Chaney, Larry Chaney, David Lee McLain, Sandy Richens Cohrs, Andrew McGill, Richard Ray, and Michael Gaither.
The Little Foxes was first performed on Broadway at the National Theatre in 1939-1940. The production ran for more than 400 performances, and was revived on Broadway three times. In the 1981 revival, Elizabeth Taylor played the role of Regina while Stockard Channing played it in the 1997 revival. The play became a movie of the same name in 1941 with Bette Davis in the role of Regina.
Following The Little Foxes, The As Yet Unnamed Theatre Company will present A Little Night Music. That show will take place in July. More information on the show can be found at the As Yet Unnamed page.
