Picnic involves two households over a Labor Day weekend. Hal, a drifter, has been taken in by Helen Potts, who owns one of the homes. Flo Owens is wary of Hal, however, believing him to be a temptation risk for her two daughters. Flo may be right, as one of the daughters, Madge, considers giving up a shot at marrying into a rich lifestyle for Hal's excitement.

The Picnic cast includes Carrie Cooke, Jeff Ketterman, Andrew McGill, Carolyn Hollbrook, Grace Poganski, Victoria Barnes, Josh O'Brien, Sandy Cohrs, Emily Miller, Howard Whitman, Jane Schuster, and Elaine Hackett. Gary Tipton directed the production, of which William Inge created and won a Pulitzer Prize.

Inge's production was on Broadway, first at the Music Box Theatre in 1953 and again as a revival in 1994 at the Criterion.  A movie version was released in 1955 with William Holden as Hal, Kim Novak as Madge, and Betty Field as Flo.

Picnic is the last show of As Yet's 2009-2010 season, which also included Forbidden Broadway, Sabrina Fair, and Little Mary Sunshine. More information about the show or the theatre company can be found at the As Yet Unnamed Theatre Company's website
