New York is known for its high fashion. California is known for its glamorous film production. Tennessee is known for its original country music. And what’s Kentucky known for? Bourbon, of course. The people of Kentucky take their bourbon very seriously, and the folks at Liquor Barn knew that when they established their business nearly 30 years ago. Now, with 13 locations statewide, the locally owned and operated liquor retailers are ready to open two brand new locations right here in Louisville.

The first Liquor Barn opened in Lexington in the fall of 1987, and since then the company has grown from one local liquor store to an entire franchise with locations all over the state including Bowling Green, Danville, and of course Louisville. It offers the largest selection of wines, beers, and spirits to Kentuckians. But the Kentucky-based business isn’t finished growing just yet.

The two newest Liquor Barns, which are both set to open on the first of July, will be located at the Jefferson Commons shopping center on Outer Loop and also the Middletown Commons shopping center on Shelbyville Road. Each store will carry over 3,000 different types of wines, 800 craft beers, and more than 2,000 brands of spirits, most of which are products of Kentucky.

“We pride ourselves on providing the most extensive selection of beer, wine and liquor from overseas, other states and right here in the Bluegrass,” says Liquor Barn operations director, Jeanette Johns. “With the growing exposure of our bourbon industry, we saw a prime opportunity to develop these two new locations with a dedicated space for those who live here or are just traveling through to learn about and purchase the most coveted bourbons and whiskies all in one spot.”
