Carrying a 3-game winning streak into this weekend, the Louisville Lightning Soccer team have a lot of momentum to finish the season strong. With 5 regular season scheduled games left to play, the Lightning is hoping to make some loud noise going into the post-season. After starting off to a disappointing beginning, the team is playing to the level and getting the results they've expected the entire time.
With wins against Detroit and Ohio last weekend, the Lightning will visit both those same teams again this weekend, hoping to bring their winning streak to five. The team travels to Canton, Ohio on Friday and finish up in Detroit on Saturday night, February 12th.
"Our guys absolutely believe they can win out now," Lightning head coach Ted Nichols said. "We respect everyone and know how difficult it is to win on the road, but we are very confident and the last few weeks have showed this. Confidence is at an all-time high and guys are starting to come into their own. We’re starting to finish our chances."
The team's next home game at Mockingbird Valley Complex isn't until February 19th. Although the team knows they have some of the best fans in the league, they aren't looking past anyone and aren't taking any of their wins for granted. "Our guys were just excited to get these wins. We really felt like one unit in these last two games. We’re just a much improved team" according to Nichols.
