For 20 years, Derby Weekend belonged to one man…Tim Wilson.

Sadly, in late February we suddenly and tragically lost the late, great comedian - and the stand-up community has yet to fully recover.  But the owners of The Laughing Derby, the room where Wilson spent so many Derbys, wanted to give him one last Derby Week, and that’s just what they’re doing.

Tonight, May 1st – through Saturday May 3rd, will be Tim’s weekend.  All of his comedy friends will be dropping by the club to do their sets, paying tribute by filling the stage that their late friend left empty this weekend.  True local giants like Danny Browning, Rich Ragains, and Josh Sneed will be on hand all weekend – with appearances from nationally renowned comics like Mark Klein and Stewart Huff.  And once the room gets filled, the booze is pouring, and the laughs are rolling, who knows who else might show up for a surprise drop –in.

The shows will start every night at 7:45 PM, with 10 PM late shows on Friday and Saturday nights.  The tickets will be $20; and 100% of the ticket price goes to Wilson’s family.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
