It’s hard not to love WDJX’s Kelly K.  She’s beautiful, clever, and sassy – what more could a man ask for?  Oh, well it wouldn’t hurt if she was also, caring, compassionate, and down-to-earth, as well.  And yep, you guessed it…she’s all of those, too.  Everyday bantering with her co-host Ben Davis, like a morning cup of coffee for our ears, The Ben Davis & Kelly K Show escorts us to work keeping us up to date on what we missed in our sleep.

But this weekend, letting go of any pretense, Kelly K is going to stand by while a giant dais of comedians roasts her for public consumption on-stage at The Laughing Derby.  But, as is her caring, compassionate way – she’s doing it for a great cause, Kosair Children’s Hospital.  The money raised Sunday will go to the hospital, a cause that is especially near and dear her.

And though her intentions are good, it doesn’t mean that this arsenal comedians are not about to rain sludge down all over her good name!

As you should know by now, roasts are a tradition among comedians, in which to "honor" one, several will gather for a night insulting the person of the hour in the worst way possible.  Sunday night’s dais (the panel of insulters), will feature real “Rednexican” Alex Reymundo, Mike Armstrong, Tim Northern, David Crow, Cleveland Jackson, Mark Klein, and John Richardson.  And once they’ve done their worst, in true roast tradition Kelly K will get to take to the podium and say her piece – returning the favor to all of the comedians that spent the entire evening “honoring” her.

It’s going to be a fun night for a great cause, the show begins at 7:15 PM and tickets are $12 and still available.  So come down and laugh Kelly K and all of her mean friends.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
