Halloween decorations are going up, scarves and sweaters are creeping out of their dark closet hiding places and pumpkin spice is back at every coffee shop. Fall is officially here and we’re ready for it! But one thing Louisville is sure going to miss during the fall season is the city’s beloved ice cream hot spot, Dairy Kastle.

Last month, the classic 35-year-old walk-up ice cream and hot dog joint announced that its final day of business for the 2015 season will be October 12. That means Louisville only has one more week of delicious hand-dipped ice cream cones, the original Fat Elvis, homemade vegan chili, Taco-in-a-Bags and pet-friendly ice cream sundaes (until next spring, of course.)

There’s no word on when the restaurant will be opening again for 2016, but the annual grand opening is typically in March. So don’t delay! Dairy Kastle is open 11am – 10pm Monday – Saturday and 12pm – 10 pm on Sundays. Make sure you bring your cash, as this spot doesn't accept any other form of payment. To see its full menu of scrumptious treats, visit Dairy Kastle’s website
