You might have seen Kyle Grooms, but it’s highly unlikely you know his name.  He’s a guy that has a resume that could have earned him a cushy spot in a writer's room somewhere, which for most comedians is a form  of purgatory disguised as success; but instead of resting on his merit Grooms continues living the life of a road dog, working club after club, in town after town, weekend after weekend – 52 weeks a year.

Grooms is a witty, intelligent comic with a perspective that his uniquely his.  The consistent quality of his material has earned him a ½ hour special on Comedy Central, countless appearances on Vh1, and led to him becoming a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing.  Admittedly, most impressive, as far as this guy is concerned, is the fact that he worked on the landmark moment television known as The Chappelle Show.  He also released the critically acclaimed comedy album Legend of the Jersey Devil.

Grooms will be making his first appearance here in Louisville this weekend at The Laughing Derby, May 8th – 10th.  Tickets are $15, and times will vary.  Scott Sharp and Eric Sorgel are also on the show.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
