Tomorrow, Friday May 4th, The Julep will be raising money for The James Graham Brown Cancer Center. This Kentucky Derby Eve party, hosted by Honorary Chairs Coach Charlie and Vicki Strong, and Edward C. and Mary F. Glasscock, has raised over $2 million dollars for the cancer center since its inception. The lead sponsor for the party is the Brown-Forman Corporation.
The event will include a red carpet entrance, cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, and an evening of dancing. Celebrity guests who will be attending include: David Arquette (actor), Conrad Bachmann (actor), Max Adler (“Glee”), Kelly Cutrone (“America’s Next Top Model” judge), Christian Soriano (fashion designer), Fred Willard (actor and comedian), Angie Johnson (“The Voice”), Zachery Ty Bryan (“Home Improvement”), Doris Roberts (“Everybody Loves Raymond”), A.J. Hawk (football player for the Green Bay Packers), Brady Quinn (football player for the Kansas City Chiefs), Mark Hapka (“Days of Our Lives”), Linsey Godfrey (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), Rodney Atkins (country music star), and Star Jones (TV host, author and attorney).
Even though Ian Somerhalder will not be attending this year, The Julep has a reputation for having all the grandeur that a Derby party should have. Rodney Atkins, an award winning country artist, will be performing as well as Nashville’s dance band The Pat Patrick Band. After watching some videos of The Pat Patrick Band online, I have to admit they appear to put on a pretty good show. Party attendees should definitely be on their feet dancing.
Individual tickets are available for $500 each ($400 tax-deductible), and tables of 10 are available for $5,000 ($4,000 tax-deductible). You may also purchase tickets for the dance-only portion of the evening for $100 each. For ticket information, please contact Andrea Tankersley at (502) 562-8021 or andrea.tankersley@louisville.edu. Tickets can also be purchased online.
