THe New York Times and several other sources are now reporting that Louisville native, The River City’s Little Sister, Jennifer Lawrence is collaborating with Amy Schumer on writing a screenplay for a film in which both actresses will star.
Schumer has garnered a lot of attention in the last year or so as being the rowdy, say-anything, raucous stand-up with a heart. Her Comedy Central sketch show “Inside Amy Schumer” continues to be a massive hit and she followed that up last month with the release of her first starring role in a major film with Judd Apatow’s “Trainwreck;” a film which Schumer also wrote the screenplay for.
Tabloids went crazy a few weeks ago when Lawrence and Schumer took to social media posting pictures of the two women on vacation together, and now we have news of a collaboration. This is exciting for us in Louisville who have watched Lawrence flourish into one of the most popular (and according to Forbes, the highest paid) actresses in Hollywood, now taking a step into writing.
Lawrence broke the news while doing an interview to promote her next movie, the final installment in The Hunger Games series, “Mockingjay – 2.” As the conversation moved to future projects, Lawrence opened up about the collaboration. “We play sisters,” Lawrence said. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now. Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing ‘Trainwreck.’”
