The popular and historic Irish Hill Neighborhood will be hosting a festival the weekend of September 5th and 6th that is sure to tickle your funny bone. The Louisville Improvisers and the world-famous Groundlings are the headliners for this celebration at Walden Theater on Payne Street at 8:00 pm. Come out and see some great comedy and acting, and one-of-a-kind improvisation!
Fans of The Groundlings are the first to point out that some of the best-known comedians have come out of this troupe, including Lisa Kudrow and Phil Harmon. Saturday Night Live has been known to be the next step for many of these performers. Guests may have the opportunity to experience the next Will Ferrell as Los Angeles comedians Jordan Black, Candace Brown, Stephanie Courtney and Colleen Smith bring their act to Louisville.
The Louisville Improvisers deliver a local flair to the performance as Chris Anger, Alec Volz, and Joshua Lane join in with the Groundlings for a weekend of top-notch improvisation. This covergence will be a reunion of sorts as the two groups worked together earlier this year for a 2-night stint of Improvapalooza shows at the Kentucky Center in downtown Louisville.
In addition to the theater portion, The Irish Hill Improv Festival Inaugural Ball will take place at the Fox Den in City Block (166 W Jefferson Street) at 10:00 pm, featuring several of Louisville’s best local bands.
Tickets for the Improvisation performance at Walden Theater are $20 at the door, and the Inaugural Ball tickets are $10 at the door. Or, for those looking for a great deal in a bad economy, you can get tickets for both for $25.
