These modern times have seen a vast makeover for vampirism. Once the demonic shadow, stalking victims to steal their life force, now most examples wrestle with their inner feelings (or werewolves) over complicated love lives. Enter: Michael Von Seibenburg Melts Through the Floorboards, the newest play featured by the Humana Festival for New American Plays. Written by Greg Kotis, the feature deals with the comedy and introspection that comes from five hundred years of living with the same grizzly diet. The playwright shines a new light on the gruesome aspects of immortality.
The eponymous character is a striking Eastern European baron who comes to find the contemporary age makes his eternal necessities more difficult to acquire. He and his wingman companion, Sammy, begin to question their identities, cravings, and appetites as the world closes in around them.
As the Festival continues strongly, Michael Von Seibenburg Melts Through the Floorboards is one of the last plays to open in their lineup. And open it will on this Saturday, March 24th at 4:00pm.
