Kentucky native Loretta Lynn, famed resident of Butcher Holler, will appear July 25 at the HullabaLOU Festival at Churchill Downs. Lynn's extraordinary career in country music has spanned decades and influenced generations of musicians.

Lynn has released 70 albums since her debut, Loretta Lynn Sings, in 1963. The songs she's written are marked by a strong and fearless woman's point of view, like "Don't Come Home A' Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)" and “Coal Miner's Daughter.” Social topics, sentimental ballads, cheatin' dogs, and gospel – she's covered it all over the years, charting 16 #1 Singles and 52 Top 10 hits. Lynn has been the subject of an Oscar-winning movie and she's won numerous awards, including four Grammys.

Lynn built her status as an American icon over the years and introduced herself to hipsters who have never heard of Conway Twitty by making a high-profile album with Jack White in 2004, Van Lear Rose, named by Rolling Stone as one of the top albums of the year. For 2010 she has planned a follow-up to Van Lear as well as an album of re-recordings of many of her biggest hits. The best way to appreciate the breadth of Lynn's career is to watch the videos embedded below.
