This Saturday is the time to take a heavy metal stance against cancer, as the first ever Horns Up Against Cancer benefit concert takes place at Diamonds, in the Highlands.
Horns Up Against Cancer is a music festival of metal heads, by metal heads and for metal heads. Founded by Kristi Stewart, the festival was hatched after she saw her husband Bobby through his own battle with cancer last year. The music helped the couple through the darkest parts of Bobby’s struggle. It was then that Kristi began to wonder what the heavy metal community could do to help fight the disease, a universal, cross-cultural killer of people. It doesn’t discern between racial, sociological or economical classes – cancer kills universally and indiscriminately. Thus, Horns Up Against Cancer was born. Her first call was to partner up with the F**k Cancer Foundation - what followed was an eruption as the heavy metal community came out in droves to create a groundswell of support for Kristi and her cause.
Horns Up Against Cancer is going to be a day-long music festival with the aim to raise money for the F**k Cancer Foundation. The line-up features some of the biggest local and national names on the hard rock music scene, with artists like Primer 55, 99 Proof Devils, 8Lb Pressure, One Pretty Minute, Patchwork, Bareknuckle Bullseye, Devolve, Chadillac Dundee, Despite The Fallen, Eye Ov The Storm, Klinch, Stolen Remains The Crowned, KROSJOINT, Jarod Delgado, Untold Rellik, BeyonDuplication, InVeyn, Signal the Revolution, In Virgo and Suppression & Incursion.
