Although there are still some leaves clinging for their dear lives on the barren branches of trees everywhere, and even though my toddler and I have been spending our afternoons stomping through the crunchiest leaves we can find that have already met their fate on the chilly ground, the holidays are beckoning us earlier and earlier, and very early this year it seems. Before Halloween, we saw the holiday décor and gifts coming out in the big box stores.
Some folks like this early start to the holiday season. Others prefer to wait until we’ve roasted our turkeys and stuffed our dressing with sage and rosemary before they don their gay apparel. Either way, you can either ignore all the events that have already started, or you can take part and get a head start on the holidays in Louisville. Here are some things that are happening soon in the Possibility City:
Downs After Dark at Churchill Downs
A Coca-Cola Christmas at Louisville Slugger Museum
War Horse National Tour at Kentucky Center for the Arts
A Christmas Carol at Actors Theatre
37th Annual Old Louisville Holiday Home Tour
The Nutcracker at the Louisville Ballet
Here is a huge list of Christmas and other holiday events happening all over Kentuckiana. Other great planning sites for Louisville events are WHiGL, Go To Louisville, and Louisville Metro’s Calendar. I say grab your red pen and your calendar page marked December, and start jotting these down. 12/31 will be here before we know it.
