    Bit to Do

The one of a kind tee pee design has been a part of Cherokee Park for almost 50 years. The city of Louisville has designed a new plan for Cherokee Park and it does not include the tee pee pavilion as Metro Parks “believes that it is out of character with this Olmsted Park, and the community would be best served with a new shelter, modeled after the one built on Baringer Hill several years ago.”

Those interested in saving the unique structure are asking for your help in making sure the proper funding is in place to keep the pavilion in tact!

Held tomorrow night, August 5th from 10pm- 3 am at the Hideaway Saloon (1607 Bardstown Road) there will be a benefit show for the tee pee pavilion. There is a $5 cover charge, all of which will go towards restoring the pavilion at Hogan’s Fountain. Proceeds from the sale of CDs will also benefit the cause and there will be a raffle included in the fun.

So, whatever your Thursday night plans include, try to stop by to help save a treasured part of Cherokee Park. It is the only structure of its design in the entire country and it needs some help to preserve it!
