Mama’s Hip, the natural and attachment parenting store located on Bardstown Road in the Highlands, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a party for all the mamas, papas, and families of Louisville. They want to say thank you for the welcoming warmth they have received over the years from the community. Meet up with them for the day long festivities this Saturday, December 1 from 10am-9pm.

    The schedule of fun includes:

2-2:45pm Baby Music Playshop, recommended for pre-crawlers

All above classes will be donation based to benefit the Mama to Mama project.

    3-5pm Santa makes an appearance!

During that evening’s Bardstown Road Aglow, there will be a locally crafted Holiday Bazaar from 5pm-9pm, showcasing a variety of lovely unique handmade items. During those same hours, Mama’s Hip would like to share their project, Mama to Mama, at an Open House from 5-9pm. Mama to Mama is a service project that grew out of the close-knit Mama’s Hip community. Through their outpouring of support for mothers who have access to fewer resources, they were inspired to form Mama to Mama to foster their sense of community and show love for mothers who struggle a little more than others.

Mama’s Hip is more than just a store for parents to purchase specific items that encourage the process of natural and attachment parenting. It truly is a resource, a gem in the city, where mothers can gain confidence, support, advice, and make relationships with each other about the journey of parenting and mothering their babies and children. They are there to aid mothers with everything from helping them get fitted for a baby carrier to offering their cloth diapering expertise. Shannon Stone, of Mama’s Hip, says “Mama’s Hip provides a supportive environment for families to explore birth and parenting options. We connect people with resources for gentle parenting, breastfeeding, babywearing, cloth diapering, natural birth and more. It has been such an inspiration to witness the community building at Mama’s Hip among families with shared parenting experiences.”

Mama’s Hip offers scheduled monthly classes including Cloth Diapering 101, breastfeeding support with the La Leche League, Kentuckiana Babywearers, and Attachment Parenting International. They also offer weekly drop-in groups and classes, including a New Mama group, playgroups for 6-24 month-olds, mama and baby yoga and prenatal yoga, and playgroups and art times for toddlers. Check their website for a full calendar of all events and classes, along with costs.

Mama's Hip is located at 1559 Bardstown Road in the heart of the Highlands. You can visit their website, find them on Facebook, or call 502-384-8805 for all kinds of information.
