A diagnosis of cancer can be devastating, but never so much as when a child is affected. Whether personally battling the disease or dealing with a friend or family member who is, Gilda’s Club Louisville has a free, one-of-a-kind program just for kids ages 6-12 starting this coming Saturday, Sept. 11.

Kids’ Support: Cancer 101 runs for eight consecutive Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Each week will cover a different topic, such as building self-esteem, dealing with feelings, stress and creating balance. Targeted especially to kids who are new to the cancer journey, the program combines basic information, expressive therapies and interactive games to address many of the challenges faced by young people dealing with this most adult of issues.

The meetings will take place at Gilda’s Club Louisville, 633 Baxter Ave. Membership in Gilda’s Club is not required, but registration is required. For information or to register your child, contact 583-0075 or Missy at
