It was a dark and stormy night, the perfect night for a horror festival! Louisville was hopping this weekend with all sorts of fun things to do, but I spent my weekend at Fright Night Film Fest.
Fright Night Film Fest, an extension of Fandom Fest, took over the Rivue tower of the Galt House Friday through Sunday. Throughout the weekend nearly 80 films played ranging from shorts to full-length features. Most of the films were American made, many locally made, but a few heralded all the way from Australia, Turkey, France, the UK, and Germany. Check back with Louisville.com for a review of The Orbs, a Jesse Knight film, starring local musician and actor Warren Ray. The Orbs is one of the many films that played at Fright Night this weekend.

Apart from the films, the vendor hall held anything and everything a horror fan could buy to satisfy their needs. Costumes by Caufield’s, jewelry and soaps by the Halloween Queen, and even horrifying baby dolls were just a few items you could purchase. Brave patrons could even get a tattoo by Tattoo Charlie's!
The vendor hall also held many horror celebrities including Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead, John Kassir from Tales from the Crypt, and Doug Bradley from Hellraiser.
Panels on writing horror stories and screenplays, applying horror makeup and prosthetics, and celebrity Q&A’s were also available for guests to enjoy as well as a performance by the Derby City Dames burlesque troupe, a cosplay contest, and a body art show.
I’m not a big fan of horror films, and even I had a good time. If you’re a horror fan, don’t miss Fright Night next year! After all, ‘tis the season to be scary!
