Mona, a brilliant alternative/indie rock band, is not only appealing to the ears but they’re not bad to look at either. Mona’s lineup includes natives from Ohio and Kentucky: Nick Brown (lead vocals, guitar and piano), Vince Gard (drums), Zach Lindsey (bass guitar and background vocals) and Jordan Young (lead guitar and background vocals. Nick describes their music and band, "We want our music to be heard by more and more people, but our responsibility is to be truthful to ourselves. We try to have a song for every human emotion, which I still call the 'Three F's... Faith, fucking and fighting.'" Mona has been nominated for the “BBC sound of 2011” and won the “MTV Award Brand New for 2011”. They’ve performed on Conan and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Their
eponymous album contains the hit songs “Lean into the Fall,” “Shooting the Moon,” and “Listen to Your Love.” There sophomore album, “Torches and Pitchfork” will be released July 23rd. Mona will be performing Saturday, July 13 at 4:45pm on the WFPK Port Stage.
