    Bit to Do

On September 29, head downtown to the Mammoth, a restored art co-op, to celebrate FianaFest, an all-day music and art showcase benefiting Kosair Children’s Hospital.

FianaFest is the creation of local musician and grateful parent, Patrick Flanary. His longest-running project, The Mighty Auroch, will be the headlining band.

Why is dad Patrick Flanary so thankful?

Seven years ago, his energetic daughter Fiana was born with William’s Syndrome, a genetic condition affecting 1 in 10,000 infants worldwide. At the age of two days, Fiana underwent exploratory surgery at Kosair Children’s Hospital. She was found to need a heart catheterization and at six months of age underwent the procedure. After reacting badly to the anesthesia, little Fiana spent several weeks in recovery, some on life support.

“Looking back on that terrible time, I felt I had to do something to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kosair Children’s Hospital for all they did to save Fiana and all they did to help my family through the worst days of our lives. What better way to say thank you than combining my passion for music and my desire to help other families who may be struggling with similar situations?”

The Mammoth is located at 744 S. 13th St.

Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $18 at the door.
