I can’t deny it: I love birds. For Valentine’s Day, I wrote an article that was a love letter to owls courtesy of a visit to Raptor Rehabilitation of KY last fall.
When speaking with Eileen Wicker on my visit, she mentioned that owls really aren’t as bright as their reputation makes them out to be. I asked what raptor she would classify as the smartest. Her reply? “The turkey vulture.”
Interesting.
This Saturday, May 18, Raptor Rehabilitation of KY will be celebrating the 21st birthday of one of the resident turkey vultures, Eo, at a birthday Open House from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
There will be tours, a special vulture birthday shirt for purchase and even birthday cake will be served.
So, if you and your family are bird lovers, trek over to Raptor Rehabilitation of KY this Saturday and wish Eo a very happy birthday.
And maybe challenge him to a game of chess.
E-mail Raptor Rehabilitation at raptors@iglou.com or call 502-491-1939 to R.S.V.P. so they can be sure to have enough cake.
