    Bit to Do

Want to find out what your middle school bff has been up to lately? How about rekindling the flame with your recently-divorced high school sweetheart? Just type their name into the search bar included in any of the world’s most popular social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, to be instantly reconnected.

This easy-to-use search feature has made staying connected with friends and family as simple as possible. The growing Snapchat app, however, doesn’t have the same type of fast and easy searching capabilities. Unless you know a person’s username or phone number, it can be very difficult to find specific Snapchat accounts. This can be especially frustrating if you're interested in engaging with your local community of Snappers.

Co-creator of Louisville's Arrow Food Couriers, Kela Ivonye is an avid Snapchat user. After posting series of Snaps providing updates on his latest projects and startup, he decided to reach out to other Snapchat users around the world for business advice and networking.

But how can you reach out when the app doesn’t have an advanced searching system? Ivonye’s answer: SnapHunt.

Ivonye and his team of impressive thinkers took home the award for 2nd Place at Louisville’s recent Startup Weekend with their creation of SnapHunt, the searching tool that will change the way you use Snapchat.

SnapHunt allows its users to enter their usernames into a database which will sort them by certain tags the user can choose to describe their account. Interested in music? Search #music to find local musicians to follow. Need a recommendation for a new restaurant? Search #food to find one nearby.

Because this unique searching tool is so new, there isn’t an app for it yet. But you can still join the thousands of users it already has by visiting its website. For updates on SnapHunt's progress, follow Kela Ivonye (@kelasan) on Snapchat. And while you’re add it, follow Louisville.com on Snapchat! Our username is @Louisvillecom and you can find us on SnapHunt by searching #Louisville and #bourbon!
