This Saturday, February 13th at Hogan’s Fountain at Cherokee Park is the Snowman Shuffle 6k.

This 4-mile race begins at 9 AM and is the third and final race of the Polar Bear Grand Prix.

It’s the perfect training mate for those of you preparing for the mini marathon in April.

The added bonus for this year of the shuffle?

There may actually still be snow on the ground!

The first 800 submitted runners will receive a pair of Snowman Shuffle running gloves to help keep your hands warm along your run.

The early registration fee is $20 (before Wednesday February 10th) and $25 after.

You can sign up online, walk-in to Fleet Feet Sports (

    1500 Bardstown Rd

), or show up early on race day to get entered.

For you incredibly fast runners, t

here will be awards to the top three male and female overall, the first male and the female masters and grandmasters.

Entrants are reminded to wear weather-appropriate clothing and to bring common sense to the park.

At this point, there are no plans to cancel or delay the race due to weather or snow, so be sure to bring your smarts to the park.

Or, heed the advice of Camille Estes with River City Races “In cold weather or situations in which the temperature may fall, precautions should be taken. Long runs of an hour or more in cool or rainy weather increase risk. Wear layers; cover exposed skin including hands, ears and nose; stay hydrated; and know the symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite.”
