I don't know about you but Easter weekend has almost taken me by surprise.  I knew it was coming.  I have been buying goodies to fill Easter baskets for the kids.  We've colored eggs.   I have even bought a ham for dinner.  But today, Good Friday, it HIT me.  Easter is on Sunday.  My five year old reminded me this morning that we have not seen the Easter bunny and that we have not gone to an egg hunt.  How could I have let this happen?

So, if you are looking for some "get out of jail free cards" here are a few activities...weather permitting.

    • The Easter Bunny is still available for visits  and/or pictures at the area malls (Greentree Mall, Oxmoor Centre, The Mall St. Matthews and Jefferson Mall)

    • Some churches are holding egg hunts tomorrow, check your area for those.

    • Area farm stores also have baby chicks for viewing, holding and purchase.

    • If your family loves parades you should check out the19th annual Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade.  It is tomorrow (April 23rd) at 11:30 and begins in front of St.Marks http://www.frankfortave.com/home/index.php?module=announce&ANN_user_op=view&ANN_id=113

At my house we will color more eggs tonight since my kids can't seem to get enough of them.  I think we'll make some Easter cupcakes and maybe some decorations for the family dinner on Sunday.  There are lots of recipes and craft ideas online, easily found with a search.

In the past we've ventured out to some favorite local restaurants for a holiday dinner and have really enjoyed ourselves.  The positives are: no clean-up and no extensive cooking.  Negatives: no place to crash right after the big meal.  Many local establishments are open on Sunday and welcome your business on Easter.  They usually prepare something special for holidays as well.  If you plan to head out you should call ahead, many restaurants take reservations on holidays, especially for larger groups.

    About Roxane Haynes

I am a working mother of four kids, age five and under, this includes two singletons and a set of twins. When I say working, I mean that I stay at home with them, but work my butt off to take care of them and get the "usual" things done for our home. I also help my husband with our business when I can. B.K. (before kids) I worked in the Human Resource field. Stay At Home Mom is by far my favorite career choice to date.
