    Strandz & Threadz

is hosting a Cuts for a Cure FundFest this Friday from 5-11pm. This event is to raise money to help fund cancer research in our area.

All proceeds will go to benefit the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

For this event, people are collecting pledges to either have their head shaved or to have their ponytail cutfor

    Locks of Love

. Shaving your head is an excellent way to show solidarity with those undergoing cancer treatments, and to raise money for cancer research in the process. If you're considering donating your ponytail, please keep in mind that they require at least 10 inches, and it can't be bleached or in dreadlocks. Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the 10-inch minimum. If your hair does not meet the requirements (or you're simply unwilling to part with it), consider coming and giving a cash donation.

Check the Locks of Love website for more details on hair requirements. All hair benefits economically disadvantaged children in need of wigs due to health issues such as hair loss from chemotherapy.

This day is a celebration in honor of these charities, as well!

Come see the generous volunteers lose their hair, and stay for the block party that Strandz & Threadz has organized. Featured events include a 4th grade poster contest, cookie walk, firemen, the musical stylings of Flat Head Screw, two magicians (The Action Brothers), author Denise Taylor, Coach Mo from The Biggest Loser, and food and beverage by Shooters Salon.

And there is still time to raise pledges of your own for Locks of Love or to have your head shaved! You can also contribute by penny voting for your favorite poster, and buying baked goods at the cookie walk.

Strandz & Threadz is located at 322 Vincennes Street, New Albany, IN. For more information, contact Stephanie at 502-645-6252.
