    Bit to Do

22nd Annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue is June 22

Twenty-two turns out to be an important number for the eateries of Clifton and Crescent Hill, as the 22nd Annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue is Sunday, June 22 at the Clifton Center at 2117 Payne Street. Over 20 restaurants are participating (maybe even 22 of them).

Taste of Frankfort Avenue is the biggest yearly fundraising event at the Clifton Center, a venue that hosts concerts, films, plays, weddings and about anything else the facility can handle. The official website describes the center as a place where arts, culture and ideas enrich the community.

Everything kicks off at 5PM. Aside from the main course of the event, there will be live music and a cash bar.

At the Taste, gourmet restaurants like Bistro 1860, Volare, Porcini, Varanese and Bourbon’s Bistro rub plates with more casual fare like Comfy Cow, Silver Dollar, North End Cafe, Boombozz Pizza, Vint, Gary’s on Spring, Crave Cafe, Coal’s Artisan Pizza, Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen, Heine Brothers, the Irish Rover and many, many more. In all, there is a rather large variety of morsels and sweets.

For the first time in the event's history, attending includes several bonuses, such as guaranteed on-site parking, complimentary beverages and a chance to win a Clifton Center concert series season pass.

One of the benefits of Taste is that it spotlights the fact that there are no national chain restaurants on the street until you get to Shelbyville Road. For defenders of local business and local cuisine, that’s an incredible selling point.

Tickets are $45 and are available in advance from cliftoncenter.org or at Carmichael’s Bookstore at 2720 Frankfort Avenue. If you’d like a patron level ticket, that’ll run you $75.
