On February 25 Louisville is holding an awareness tour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. about the Celiac disease at the Clifton Center (2117 Payne Street, 40206). If you aren't concerned about this disease maybe you should take a minute and read this. The reason I say this is because most people with this disease do not know they have it. There is no evidence as to how people get it, they just do.  But if you are one of those people who have it and do not know, this meeting might be a good place to start.

This disease can develop at any point in a person’s life. People with intestinal cancer, type 1 diabetes, and many more disorders are more susceptible to getting it. The damage this disease can cause is innumerable. It prevents you body from obtaining the nutrients it needs and you then can become malnourished. I only know a few facts but this meeting would be a great place to start learning more about it.

During the tour you get to meet and talk to medical experts about this disease. And you also get to enjoy a live food show on the Rudi’s Gluten Free Bakery Stage. You also get to eat and enjoy gluten free-food samples from dozens of local and national companies including,  Mim's Kitchen, B & G Foods, Blue Diamond Growers, French Meadow Bakery, Lisanatti Foods, Maplegrove Gluten Free, Bakery on Main, Dietz & Watson, BiAglut-H.J. Heinz Company, Conte's Pasta, Lundberg Family Farms, Namaste Foods, Udi's Gluten Free and Snyder's.

Children under twelve get in for free and for everyone else it is $10. To learn more information about the tour you can call (440) 799-4344 and you can also buy tickets now at www.celiacawarenesstourlouisville.eventbrite.com. So come in and enjoy some free food and learn about Celiac disease to become more aware.
